In the all-new e-POWER system, gasoline engine (not driving the wheels and without transmission) is only used for electricity generation by pairing with the generator, providing electricity to the electric motor and charging the onboard Li-ion battery. Hence, the Serena e-POWER is full-time driven by electric motor, delivers instant acceleration response and calm ride comparable to 100% electric vehicles. Thanks to the high power and efficient electric motor, a small displacement, 1.4 litre gasoline engine is all it takes to deliver high torque comparable to traditional 3-litre gasoline engine, while the best-in-class fuel consumption, 24.4km/L (JC08 mode), outperforms many eco compact hatchbacks.
